The Independence Square is an open-air ceremonial ground where all national celebrations are held. A joining is the independence arch which is a symbol of the independence of the black race, and Ghana especially.
Below is the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Museum, a tribute to Ghana’s first President. This Park formerly called the Polo grounds is where Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared the Independence of Ghana. The remains of Dr. Nkrumah as well as his wife rest in this premise. You will see various personal items used by Osagyefo, as well as books he authored together with several of his personal belongings.
The Accra Lighthouse is located along High Street in the area of Jamestown known as Ngleshie Alata in central Accra. It is found almost directly opposite the Jamestown Mantse Palace to the north, and the Jamestown Fort. It is a 30km high lighthouse which was built and used by our Colonial masters.
